BOSTON - The Boston University Department of Athletics enjoyed another record-breaking semester in Fall 2018 with Terrier student-athletes posting a combined 3.23 grade-point average, the highest in school history.
Twenty-one of BU's 24 varsity teams earned over a 3.0 GPA in Fall 2018 and a record 22 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester. This is the fourth straight semester that the department record for overall GPA was broken.
"Our student-athletes' drive to succeed in the classroom is just as strong as their will to win in competition," said director of athletics Drew Marrochello. "These students certainly make us proud, and their dedication to excel in their fields of study deserves to be celebrated."
Women's tennis led the way with a 3.64 GPA, headlining a group of 19 teams that posted a 3.2 or above. Men's rowing had the biggest improvement compared to Fall 2017, raising its mark by 0.20.
