BOSTON - Hitting the road for the first time this season, the Boston University women's basketball team will visit New Hampshire on Tuesday, Nov. 12 for a 6 p.m. tip.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU fell to MAAC preseason favorite Marist, 89-75, in its home opener Friday night.
- Freshman Sydney Johnson made history Friday night, scoring a team-high 21 points in her debut, the most points a Terrier freshman has scored since 1977, and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
- Johnson, who also led the Terriers with four assists, overcame a 1-of-7 start from the floor to go 6-for-11 from the field and 3-of-5 from deep in the second half.
- The starting lineup of Riley Childs, Nia Irving, Annabelle Larnard, Nia Irving and Johnson each reached double-digit scoring figures and accounted for 69 points.
- BU's freshman class poured in 38 in the opener, as Johnson and Larnard earned the start, while Maren Durant and Maggie Pina saw time off the bench, and all four got on the scoreboard.
- Irving posted her 16th career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, with nine of her boards coming on the offensive end.
- Dating back to last season, Irving has scored in double figures in four straight games and has two straight double-doubles.
- Nelson played all 40 minutes for the 12th time in her career and has missed just 225 of a possible 2,375 minutes over her career.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats are an even 1-1 after moving past Bryant, 68-56, on Saturday.
- New Hampshire opened its season against defending National Champion and second-ranked Baylor, where the Bears held the Wildcats to two points over the first half en route to a 97-29 result.
- Caroline Soucy led the team with 19 points against Bryant and leads the team in points per game (10.5) while Amanda Torres follows right behind (10.0) in scoring.
- Ashley Storey, who led the team in scoring, blocks and shooting percentage last year before her junior campaign was cut short due to injury, is leading the Wildcats on the boards (5.0) and ranks third in scoring (7.0).
- UNH was predicted to finish seventh amongst nine teams in the America East preseason poll.
- Head coach Maureen Magarity ranks second all-time in program history in wins (137) and was named the Kay Yow National Coach of the Year during the 2016-17 season after a 26-6 season, UNH's best in program history.
THE SERIES
- BU snapped a four-game skid to the Wildcats with a 60-39 victory at Case Gym last season.
- The former America East foes have squared off in each season dating back to the 1978-79 campaign.
- BU will head to Maine for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Nov. 17.
