Nearis Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Julia Nearis of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Nearis notched both goals in the Terriers' 2-1 win at Providence on Saturday. She opened the scoring in the second stanza before giving BU the lead for good early in the third period with a power-play strike. Nearis' winner came just 1:06 after the Friars equalized.
Saturday was Nearis' second multi-goal game of the season; she also scored twice at Penn State on Oct. 26. Nearis has notched five goals over the last four games, including the Terriers' last three goals. The Beverly, Massachusetts, native is second among NCAA and Hockey East rookies with six goals, which is also good for sixth overall in the conference.
BU will return to the ice on Tuesday when the Terriers welcome Yale to Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
