Terriers Push Past New Hampshire, 78-64

DURHAM, N.H. – Taking the road for the first time this season, the Boston University women's basketball team used a strong second half to take down New Hampshire, 78-64, Tuesday night at Lundhold Gym.
Tied 42-42 at the break, BU limited the Wildcats to just 34.4 percent (10-for-29) shooting in the second half after the home team connected on 66.7 percent (20-for-30) from the floor through the first 20 minutes.
Riley Childs led the Terriers with a career-high 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting. Nia Irving was also efficient, connecting on 5-of-8 from the floor as part of a 14-point night. Sydney Johnson and Katie Nelson led the team with seven boards apiece and each reached double-digit scoring figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Nelson dished out a team-best six assists.

How It Happened
- BU came out on fire, scoring on its first three possessions to force the Wildcats to burn a timeout just 1:23 into play.
- However, UNH reeled off an 18-5 run following the timeout to take a seven-point lead.
- Maggie Pina connected from deep to spark a 5-0 Terrier run, cutting the gap to 18-16 with just over three minutes left in the opening quarter.
- The Wildcats shot 75.0 percent (12-for-16) to hold the scoreboard in their favor, 26-20, at the end of the frame.
- Irving and Childs worked the post to spark a 17-4 run to start the second stanza, thrusting the Terriers ahead 37-30 with 4:47 left in the half.
- Once again, UNH would answer, knotting the score at 42-all as the first half came to a close.
- The Terriers and Wildcats exchanged baskets to start the third until Maren Durant played a hand in the next eight points, assisting on a Childs layup before connecting on three straight shots to pull BU ahead, 56-51.
- Nelson and Annabelle Larnard combined for the next six points, capping a 14-0 run as BU extended its advantage to 63-53 at the end of the quarter.
- Following a slow start to the fourth, Childs delivered six straight points midway through to make it a 71-55 game with 4:14 left to play.
- From there, BU would close out the game to seal its first win of the season.
- Tuesday marked BU's first win in Durham since 2013.
- Irving and Childs combined to shoot 9-for-10 from the floor in the first half. With Irving going 4-for-4 and Childs hitting on 4-of-5.
- BU held a 40-23 advantage in rebounds, including a 14-5 lead in offensive rebounds.
- BU will head to Maine for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Nov. 17.
