Compher Named to USA Rivalry Series Roster
December 13, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior Jesse Compher of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named to the United States roster for the first two games of the 2019-20 Rivalry Series against Canada, USA Hockey announced on Friday.
This will be the second time that Compher will represent the senior national team. She won a gold medal with the U.S. at the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship in April. Compher is one of 23 players to make the roster after taking part at USA Hockey's Winter Training Camp this past week.
Compher missed the first nine games of this season due to injury, but she helped lead the Terriers to a 7-1-0 record since her return to the lineup on Nov. 9. She has tallied seven goals and six assists for 13 points in just eight games, having been held off the score sheet only twice. Her five-game point streak coincides with the Terriers' five-game win streak, as she has tallied six goals and six assists during that span. Compher has tallied at least two points in four of those five victories, including a four-point effort at Vermont on Nov. 24.
The first game of this series will take place on Saturday night at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut, and will be televised live on NBC Sports Network at 7 p.m. The teams will then skate on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Moncton, New Brunswick. Compher will face off against two Terrier alumnae, as both Marie-Philip Poulin ('15) and Victoria Bach ('18) will skate for Canada. All three BU products were selected as All-Americans and have been honored as Patty Kazmaier Award finalists.
