Correia Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Courtney Correia of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Correia scored the game-winning goal in the Terriers' 3-1 triumph at UConn on Friday night. Her goal just 2:59 into the second stanza gave the Terriers' a 2-0 advantage. It was Correia's second game-winning strike of the season and the third time she's factored on a game-winner this season.

This is the second time this season that Correia has been heralded as Hockey East Rookie of the Week. She also earned the honor on Jan. 21. Correia has been one of the top rookies in the conference this season, having notched seven goals and seven assists for 14 points this season. BU is 8-0-1 this season when Correia records at least one point.

The third-seeded Terriers will begin their best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series against sixth-seeded New Hampshire on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
