
Guo Finishes Second at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - Junior Zhangcheng Guo of the Boston University golf team finished second at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, which concluded play on Friday afternoon at Pinehurst No. 8.
Guo fired a final-round 74, the lowest score of the afternoon, to finish the 54-hole tournament with a 233 (81-78-74), just one stroke behind the winner, Ami Gianchandani (73-79-80--232) of Yale. Guo sank three birdies on Friday to help her surge up the leaderboard.
The Terriers took third in the six-team field with a score of 964 (324-326-314), with their total of 314 proving to be the best team score during Friday's final round. BU finished one shot back of second-place St. John's (963), while UNC Asheville claimed first with a three-day score of 955.
Freshman Hanako Kawasaki tied for 10th with a score of 244 (77-81-86), followed by junior Abby Parsons in a tie for 12th (82-81-82--245). Sophomore Katerina Doleckova competed as an individual and shot 77 on Friday to finish in a tie for 15th at 248 (87-84-77). Senior Megan Carter placed 19th at 250 (84-86-80) while junior Saeros Oskarsdottir tied for 34th (94-91-89--274). Junior Annie Sritrugal only played the final round and shot a 78.
The Terriers led the field in both par-3 scoring (3.06) and par-4 scoring (4.63) this week. Kawsaki led all golfers by playing the par-3s at -2, while Guo averaged a tournament-low 4.30 on the par-4s during the three days. Carter also played the par-3s well, as she finished at -1 for the week thanks to her hole-in-one on Wednesday. Carter and Kawsaki were two of just three golfers to complete the par-3s at -1 or better.
BU will return to competition on March 24 and 25 at the 54-hole Babs Steffens Invitational, which will be hosted by Stetson University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
