Compher Named Second Team All-American

HAMDEN, Conn. - Sophomore Jesse Compher of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named a CCM/ACHA Second Team All-American, as announced by the American College Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday night.
After a strong rookie campaign in which she tallied 26 points (9g, 17a), Compher put together one of the best statistical seasons in program history as a sophomore. She recorded a program-record 44 assists and added 17 goals to finish the year with 61 points, becoming just the second player in program history to collect 60 or more points in a single season. Compher is second in the nation in assists and third in the country in points; she also led Hockey East in both those categories.
A unanimous Hockey East First Team All-Star and a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, Compher was the only player in the nation to have notched an assist in 30 games this season. She recorded a helper in a remarkable 81.1% of her games this season and is second in the country with 27 primary assists. Compher also tallied a point in 31 different contests this year and had 20 multi-point efforts. She helped the Terriers win 20 games for the first time since the 2015-16 season and had the primary assist on the game-winning goal in the 2019 Beanpot title game.
This is the second straight year and fifth time overall that a Terrier has been selected as an All-American; Victoria Bach earned first-team honors last year. Marie-Philip Poulin (2015), Sarah Lefort (2014) and Catherine Ward (2011) have also earned All-America accolades.
Compher will represent the United States at the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship, which will take place April 4-14 in Finland.
