
Women's Rowing Set for Eastern Sprints on Sunday

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Boston University women's openweight rowing team will race at the 46th annual Eastern Sprints Championships on Sunday in Worcester, Mass. The Terriers will send out four boats to the prestigious competition on Lake Quinsigamond with racing beginning at 8 a.m.
The competition begins at 8:00 a.m. with varsity eight heat racing, as 14 varsity eight boats compete in three heat races try and advance to the grand finals.
"Eastern Sprints continues to be a highly competitive regatta and a really fast final test before our conference championship," said director of women's rowing Madeline Davis. "We're looking forward to testing ourselves against some strong opponents and measure our progress over the past few weeks."
The BU V8 will race at 8:20 a.m. against Rutgers, Northeastern, MIT and with the top two boats advancing to the grand final to be held at 3:25 p.m.
BU's second V8 boat will race at 8:50 a.m. against Harvard, Drexel, Temple and MIT again with the top two boats advancing to the grand final. BU's varsity four boat will race in its heat at 9:20 a.m. against Rutgers, Tennessee, URI and MIT also the top two boats advancing to the grand finals. The varsity four "B" will close out the morning heat races at 9:50 a.m. against Rutgers, Dartmouth, Temple and UConn.
Last year, the BU openweight V8 boat finished second in its morning heat race to advance to the grand finals and finished sixth. Harvard won the 2018 Eastern Sprints V8 grand final and the overall team points championship.

After competing at Sprints this weekend, the Terriers will next compete at the Patriot League Championships on May 17 in Worcester, Mass.
