Terriers Battle Regional Rivals at Harvard Fall Classic

ALLSTON, Mass. – Highlighted by freshman Erica Di Battista's perfect 3-0 singles record, the Boston University women's tennis team competed over the weekend at the Harvard Fall Classic.

Over a three day period, the Terriers faced opponents from Brown (Friday), the host Crimson (Saturday) and Boston College (Sunday).

Di Battisa won super tiebreakers against all three schools to lead the way. She first posted a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 win against Britany Lau, a five-star recruit who ranked as high as No. 21 nationally according to TennisRecruiting.com. She then held off a late charge for a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 victory over two-time All-Ivy League honoree and former Blue Chip recruit Jenna Friedel. In the final singles matchup, she rallied from a set down to defeat another five-star recruit, BC's Hailey Wilcox, by a score of 5-7, 6-2, 10-7.

Seeing her first competition as a Terrier, junior Alex Angyalosy, a transfer from Clemson, posted straight-set wins against both Brown's Peri Sheinen (6-4, 6-3) and BC's Marion Conklin (6-3, 6-2). Junior Emily Kim, freshman Sofia Kostirko and freshman Mia Wallace also collected a singles win.

In doubles action, Di Battista team with Angyalosy for wins over Brown (6-2) and Boston College (7-6). Kostirko and freshman Steph Nguyen partnered together for a 6-3 victory over the Eagles, while junior Dani Blaser and senior Lily O'Fagan posted a 6-4 victory against the Crimson.

The Terriers will next head to Army West Point on Oct. 17-22 for the ITA Regional Championships.
