First Phase of Case Center Renovations Complete with New Entrance, Driben Lobby

February 26, 2020

BOSTON – The Boston University Department of Athletics is proud to announce the completion of a major project to renovate the Case Center entrance and lobby as well as the main Athletic Department offices at 300 Babcock Street.

"I'm pleased that we made 50 years worth of improvements in a matter of months," director of athletics Drew Marrochello said. "I look at this not as a lobby but as a gateway to our athletics facilities. I hope that our fans, student-athletes and anyone who visits the Case Center not only has a great time at our events but enjoys all the new amenities and features"

The improvements to the Elliot Driben lobby can be seen and felt both on the interior as well as the outside of the building. As you walk down Babcock Street from Commonwealth Ave., there is new exterior signage, wayfinding and lighting to increase the visibility of the facility. In addition, the sidewalk leading from the West Campus dorms to Case Center is now wider.

Once at the building, visitors will be able to utilize a handicap-accessible ramp along with automatic doors. The vestibule area has been increased and there is now a canopy to protect guests from outdoor elements while waiting outside the lobby.

There are new features throughout the lobby, including an interactive display where visitors can learn more about the members of the BU Athletic Hall of Fame. A department-wide trophy case sits opposite of Walter Brown Arena, which now boasts new entrance doors.

Images of Terrier student-athletes along with the 15 tenets of "Who We Are," the department's mission statement, adorn the newly painted walls. There is also a display that highlights Terriers in the Olympics, which is located across from a new seating lounge that looks upon Nickerson Field and has a screen that shows event highlights and features on Terrier student-athletes.

At 300 Babcock Street, there is enhanced exterior signage and lighting to the fully accessible entrance, along with a new entry door and canopy. Branding was installed throughout the stairwell that leads to the second floor that highlights each of the 24 varsity programs as well as selected Who We Are tenets.
