Women's Tennis Drops Florida Trip Opener at FIU, 4-1

MIAMI – Opening a three-match road trip in the Sunshine State, the Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision at Florida International.
The Panthers (8-2) won the first two doubles matches and captured two of their three singles points in straight sets to defeat the Terriers (5-5).

- FIU won the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches with identical scores of 6-2 for the 1-0 advantage.
- The Panthers started singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win at line 3.
- Sophomore Shelly Yaloz posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 slot to keep the Terriers within striking distance.
- Junior Lily Burchell won her first set, but Basak Akbas rallied back to claim another point, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, at line 4.
- FIU added a 6-3, 6-4 victory at line 5 to clinch the team win.
- The Terriers will face the Bulldogs on Friday (March 13) at 12 p.m. in Coconut Creek, Florida.
- Gonzaga pulled out a 6-1 win four years ago in California.
