
Men's Cross Country Races at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University men's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh.
In the gold 8K event, BU placed 16th out of 40 teams with 480 points, 17 points clear of 17th-place Iona and just nine spots back of 15th.
"Today was a huge step in the right direction for our group," associate head cross country coach Jordan Carpenter said. "We competed well and had a couple new faces step up to place in our scoring five for the first time this season. I am excited to continue to build over the coming weeks as we approach the final meets of the season."
Sophomore Matt Mason led the Terriers with a time of 24:31.5, good for 69th. Senior Marcel Aubry finished 84th with a time of 24:38.2, which shattered his personal best, while junior Foster Malleck was 102nd with a time of 24:48.7. Junior Kevin Murphy (24:57.9) and senior Aksel Laudon (25:03.9) rounded out the Terrier scorers, with Laudon also smashing his personal best. Junior Mike Hagen posted a time of 25:19.2 while sophomore Alex Brown crossed the line in 25:25.9, followed by junior Alec Block (25:33.1), sophomore Robert Hannon (25:37.6) and junior Charlie Hammel (26:15.7).
In the open 8K, sophomore Spencer Twyman led BU in 48th with a time of 25:41.9. junior Aidan Norris was 67th with a mark of 25:58.4, followed by junior Kathan Shenoy (26:11.7) in 82nd. Junior Andrew Trapp crossed the line in 26:42.8, with senior Joe Grandizio finishing in 26:52.5 and junior John O'Connor posting a time of 26:53.1. Junior Rylan Pettit (27:32.4), sophomore Will Loggia (27:40.1), sophomore Nate Somers (27:41.8), senior Diego de la Torre (28:14.2) and freshman Drew Fenton (34:02.2) also competed.
BU will return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 16, when the Terriers travel to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational.
