Men's Rowing Earns Pair of Top-11 Finishes in Club Eights Event on First Day at HOCR

BOSTON – The Boston University men's rowing team opened its weekend at the Head of the Charles with a pair of top-11 results in the club eights event with the DeWolfe Boathouse once again serving as the starting line.
Coxed by senior Catherine O'Neal and stroked by freshman Bowen de Gouw, the A boat placed sixth overall out of 35 boats with a time of 14:49.305. Their performance was the fifth fastest by a collegiate crew, as the Terriers finished just 0.4 seconds behind the Riverside Club.
BU's other boat coxed by junior Philip Melki and stroked by senior Benjamin Hunnewell recorded a time of 15:02.310 to finish 11th overall.
The program also had connections to two other races, as an alumni eights boat placed 15th out of 46 crews. The program's boatman Russ Cone won the grand master/veteran singles event out of 126 boats on Friday with a time of 18:56.664. Head coach Thomas Bohrer took fourth at 19:17.741.
The Terriers will have two more boats take to the water on Sunday with the championship fours event starting at 1:16 p.m. and the championship eights event starting at 1:49 p.m.
