Women's Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet with Bryant and Northeastern

BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming & diving team hosted a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon at Competition Pool and earned a split, topping Bryant by a score of 234-66 while falling just short against Northeastern, 153-147.
The Terriers and Huskies were tied, 132-132, with two events remaining but Northeastern was able to pull ahead to pick up the narrow victory.
Freshman Ashley Scafetta led the way with a pair of wins in the 100 and 200 breast with times of 1:06.05 and 2:22.7, respectively. The rookie also placed second in the 200 IM (2.10.11).
Senior Sezin Eligul took first in the 100 free at 52.55 and senior Emily Balicanta won the 1-meter dive with a score of 260.15.
BU also claimed the top spot in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:46.16.
Freshman Ella Erickson turned in a pair of runner-up finishes, first in the 200 fly (2:07.25) and then later in the 500 free (5:14.51). Sophomore Madison Kim also had two second-place efforts in the 200 free (1:54.38) and 100 fly (57.91).
In both diving events, freshman Sophia Souza finished second, putting up scores of 254.20 (3-meter) and 239.35 (1-meter).
Three other runner-up finishes were recorded by sophomore Ellie Graves (1000 free, 10:45.99), freshman Stephanie Liu (100 breast, 1:07.03) and sophomore Sydney Sorbello (50 free, 24.34).
The Terriers will return to action next weekend for their first road trip of the season when they visit Massachusetts on Saturday (Oct. 30). The meet starts at noon.
