UMass Holds Off Women's Swimming & Diving, 155-145

AMHERST, Mass. – The Boston University women's swimming & diving team battled UMass down to the end but ultimately came up just short, 155-145, on Saturday afternoon at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.
The Terriers won six total events on the day with sophomore Madison Kim leading the way in three of them. The Fairfax, Virginia, native took first in the 100 fly (57.63) and 200 free (1:54.44) before teaming with senior Francesca Leung, sophomore Blythe Brenner and sophomore Sydney Sorbello for first place in the 400 free relay at 3:31.99, two seconds ahead of the Minutewomen. Kim also added points with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, which UMass won by 0.20 seconds.
Leung took first in the 100 free at 53.36 and collected more points in the 200 free with a third-place finish. Freshman Stephanie Liu won the 200 breast at 2:24.78 and finished runner-up in the 100 breast (1:07.03)
Senior Emily Balicanta earned the other victory for the Terriers with a score of 255.45 in the 3-meter. She was 5.11 points shy of adding a second with a runner-up result in the 1-meter at 260.33.
The Terriers will next head to Providence on Saturday, Nov. 6, for a 1 p.m. start.
