BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Paced by three Terriers in the top 13, the Boston University men's cross country team finished third at the 2021 Patriot League Championship on Sunday at Lehigh.
Four Terriers finished in the top 25 while all five scorers were in the top 30. BU totaled 80 points, finishing well ahead of fourth-place Lafayette (134 points) and behind only Navy (20) and Army West Point (55).
Sophomore Matthew Mason finished eighth with an 8K time of 25:22.4 to lead the Terriers. Junior Kevin Murphy was 10th with a time of 25:25.4, followed by Senior Marcel Aubry in 13th with a time of 25:30.6. All three BU runners earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors, with Mason doing so for the second straight year.
Junior Foster Malleck crossed the line in 24th with a time of 25:53.7 while sophomore Robert Hannon was 29th with a time of 25:59.5. Junior Alec Block was not far behind that duo, as he placed 35th with a time of 26:07.3, followed by junior Mike Hagen (26:22.6) and sophomore Spencer Twyman (26:22.7) in 45th and 46th, respectively. Junior Kathan Shenoy (26:33.4) and sophomore Alex Brown (26:35.8) were just outside the top 50 in 51st and 53rd, respectively, while juniors Charlie Hammel (27:55.7) and Aidan Norris (28:21.8) also competed.
BU will return to competition on Friday, Nov. 12, when the Terriers race at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Franklin Park.
