BOSTON – The Boston University men's basketball team will conclude the regular season at Army West Point over the weekend with both Saturday and Sunday's contests slated for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
The Terriers enter the series looking to improve their seeding for next week's Patriot League tournament, which was expanded on Thursday to include all 10 teams. They've dropped their last three games after winning four of the previous five games. Senior Javante McCoy leads BU at 16.2 ppg with senior Sukhmail Mathon owning a team-high 7.9 rpg alongside 11.2 ppg. Overall, BU is averaging 70.1 ppg and 43.5 FG% while holding opponents to 76.9 ppg and 48.6 FG%.
The Black Knights are also looking to end the regular season with momentum having lost four of their last six games, including most recently a 67-51 defeat at Holy Cross. Lonnie Grayson leads Army at 13.9 ppg ahead of Josh Caldwell (11.9 ppg) and Alex King (10.9 ppg). Nick Finke is averaging a team-high 6.5 rpg to help the defensive efforts. Army is averaging 72.9 ppg and 45.5 FG% while holding opponents to 69.9 ppg and 43.5 FG%.
BU owns a 19-13 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1954-55 and won its last meeting at Christl Arena, 80-66, back on Feb. 5, 2020. Army avenged the loss with a weekend sweep at Case Gym in January, 79-59 and 76-65. McCoy appeared in the second game and finished with 21 points, while junior Walter Whyte averaged 15.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg for the two contests. Caldwell led Army at 16.0 ppg while shooting 70 percent from the field.
