BOSTON - The Boston University swimming & diving teams will close out the regular season with dual meets vs. Holy Cross. The women will head to Worcester while the men will remain at Competition Pool in Boston. Both meets are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
On the women's side, the Terriers are 2-0 on the season, with both wins coming at home. Most recently, the Terriers edged UMass, 151-148, as the 400 free relay team won the meet-deciding event. Sydney Lee, who anchored the free relay team and won three individual free events, was named the Patriot League Swimmer of the Week. Lee has captured three individual wins in each of BU's two meets this season, and also owns a pair of wins as part of the 400 free relay squad.
Emily Balicanta earned her second straight Patriot League Diver of the Week selection after winning the 3-meter (267.68) and placing second in the one-meter (246.45) events. Lara Mitchell has also gotten off to a strong start in her first collegiate season, taking both the 100 and 200 back against Bryant and UMass. The Terriers have taken the top spot in 21-of-32 events this season.
The men are coming off their second straight win by at least 30 points, most recently outpacing UMass, 167-126, last Saturday. Sarsen Whatmore and Michael Nejaime were named the Patriot League Swimmer and Diver of the Week after combining for 31 points against the Minutemen. Whatmore won a trio of free events for the second consecutive week, while Nejaime was the top finisher on the boards for the Terriers, placing fourth in both the one-meter and three-meter dive.
Teddy McCarthy has also earned Patriot League Diver of the Week honors this season. The freshman finished second in the one-meter and fourth in the three-meter diving events in the season opener against Bryant.
