Women's Tennis Ends Regular Season with 6-1 Win over Navy

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Boston University women's tennis team will enter the Patriot League tournament with plenty of momentum after claiming a 6-1 win over Navy at Army's Malek Tennis Center.
The Terriers (7-1, 3-0 PL) extended their win streak to six matches by sweeping doubles and capturing five singles points, including four in straight sets, to defeat the Midshipmen (5-3, 3-2 PL).
Freshman Victoria Carlsten and sophomore Erica Di Battista opened with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Kaitlin Tan and junior Shelly Yaloz followed with a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 slot before seniors Lily Burchell and Emily Kim completed the sweep at line 1, 6-3.
Di Battista dropped the fewest games in singles action with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at line 3 before Kim posted a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 4 slot. BU toughed out a pair of wins in the top two contests with Carlsten posting a 7-6(6), 6-4 win and Tan earning a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
Two other matches went to a third set with Burchell rallying for a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0(8) win. Yaloz came up just short in her tiebreaker for a No. 6 defeat, 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(8).
BU will next head to Annapolis, Maryland, for the Patriot League tournament on April 30-May 2. The bracket for the event will be announced earlier in the week.
