Men’s Rowing to Open Spring Season vs. Northeastern on Saturday

BOSTON – The Boston University men's rowing team will open their 2021 spring season on the Charles River on Saturday when they face off against archrival Northeastern. The Terriers' 4+ will start things off at 7:30 am followed by the varsity eight boat cup race at 7:50 am. BU's 2V8 will race at 8:10am and the 3V8 will race at 8:30am.
Traditionally the race between the two squads is for the Artlett Cup but the cup will not be exchanged this year due the ongoing effects of Covid on both teams' rosters.

This will be the first race for the Terriers since the team competed at the Foot of the Charles back on Nov. 19, 2019.
"We are very excited to get back to racing this Saturday." said Boston University head coach Thomas Bohrer. "Every spring season opener is special but Saturday will be a memorable day for all of us after not competing for 18 months. With so much uncertainty during the year and with changes in how we go about practice and safety protocols implemented – I believe both squads will appreciate this opportunity to get back on the starting line."
The last time the BU faced Northeastern in April of 2019, the Terriers' 1V fell to the Huskies by just .2 seconds in a very exciting race. Northeastern has won the last two races (2019, 2018) while BU won three consecutive times (2017, 2016, 2015) in this back-and-forth rivalry.

After Saturday's competition, the Terriers will continue their spring schedule when they race next Saturday, April 24 at Navy.
