Kawasaki, Terriers Win Hartford Invitational

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. - Junior Hanako Kawasaki recorded a one-under 71 to claim the individual title and lead the Boston University golf team to a victory at the Hartford Invitational on Friday at Tumble Brook Country Club.
The Terriers combined for an 18-hole score of 297, 14 shots clear of second-place Quinnipiacc (311). BU has won two straight tournaments to open its spring season, as the Terriers were victorious at the FDU Invitational last weekend.
Sophomore Alice Fan remained steady as she fired a 74 to finish tied for third while freshman Flair Kuan continued her strong debut season with a 75 to tie for fifth. Playing as an individual, sophomore Monica Yu tied for sixth in her Terrier debut with a 76. Sophomore Kristen Min Ju Kim tied for eighth with a 77 and graduate student Zhangcheng Guo, the reigning Patriot League Golfer of the Week, carded a 78 to tie for 12th.
BU will be back on the course on Sunday when the Terriers begin the two-day, 36-hole Sacred Heart Invitational.

"The players are really working hard during practices," head coach Bruce Chalas said. "They are a very determined group."
Kawasaki led the charge for BU, as she made four birdies during her impressive round to clinch her fourth victory as a Terrier and first since the 2019 Patriot League Championship.
