July 14, 2021 | Women's Ice Hockey
CALGARY, Alta. - Boston University women's ice hockey standouts Andi Calderone and Kate Stuart were invited to Hockey Canada's National Women's Development Team Summer Camp, which will be held from July 29 to August 9 in Calgary.
This is the second straight year that both Calderone and Stuart will attend the annual camp, which was held virtually last year. In addition, 2021 graduate Corinne Schroeder will be at the camp after a decorated four-year career at BU.
Both Calderone and Stuart were terrific during a shortened 2020-21 campaign. Calderone appeared in all 12 games as a rookie, tallying four assists and blocking 10 shots. Three of her four helpers came on game-winning goals. Stuart shined between the pipes in her junior season, posting a 3-1-0 record in four starts. She finished the year with a .942 save percentage and a 1.63 goals-against average in five appearances and allowed just three goals in her final 198:11 of work, including a 24-save shutout of Merrimack on Feb. 5.
The 40 players who will attend camp will be split into two teams and participate in practices and intrasquad games. The camp will also feature two scrimmages against Canada's National Women's Team from Aug. 7-9. In addition, Savannah Newton ('18) will be a part of the support staff at the National Women's Under-18 Team Summer Development Camp, which will also be held in Calgary starting on July 29.
