BOSTON - The Boston University men's and women's cross country teams announced their 2021 schedule on Monday.
BU will race in four regular-season meets, beginning with the Minuteman Invite at UMass on Sept. 11. The Terriers will then compete at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted at Franklin Park, on Sept. 24.
"It's so good to have the team back on campus this fall for a full traditional season again," director of track & field and cross country Gabe Sanders said. "The inspiration drawn from our championship and close runner-up performances was contagious among our team heading into the summer. With the combination of our young developing core and seasoned upperclassmen, this program is right on track to continue it's championship path in the Patriot League and beyond. We're excited to see the season unfold and what new heights we can achieve."
Following those two Massachusetts meets, BU will travel to Lehigh for the Paul Short Invite on Oct. 1, in what will be a preview for the Patriot League Championship later that month. The Terriers will then close their regular-season campaign at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 16.
"We are thrilled to have our cross country squads returning to campus soon as we head into a fall of cross country racing," associate head cross country coach Jordan Carpenter said. "We have a talented group of student-athletes returning, along with some impact first-years, who have been putting in a lot of work to prepare for the upcoming season. The ambitions for these groups are certainly high as we look to build on the successes from the short spring season."
The Terrier women will aim for their third straight conference title and the men will look to improve upon their second-place performance in the spring when they return to Lehigh on Oct. 31 for the Patriot League Championship. BU will then make its second appearance of the fall at Franklin Park for the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 12. The NCAA Championship will be contested at Florida State on Nov. 20.
