ALLSTON, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team concluded the first weekend of the fall schedule with a short trek to Harvard on Sunday afternoon.

After winning eight of 12 combined singles and doubles matches played against Dartmouth a day prior, the Terriers won four contests against the Crimson with three singles losses decided in a third-set super tiebreaker.

2021 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Kaitlin Tan led the Terriers by first teaming with senior Shelly Yaloz for a 6-1 win over the Crimson in doubles and then rolling to a 6-1, 7-6(5) victory against three-time Lithuania Federation Cup member Iveta Daujotaite. Junior Erica Di Battista also prevailed in singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Holly Fischer, who previously competed at the No. 1 position for the Great Britain National Tennis Team at the U12, U14 and U16 levels. 

Junior Steph Nguyen and freshman Sydney Sharma posted a 6-4 victory in doubles and then both rallied to win a set in singles before coming up just short in a super tiebreaker. Junior Sofia Kostirko also won a set to force a super tiebreaker in singles action.

The Terriers will next head to the ITA Regional Championships on Friday, Oct. 1 – Sunday, Oct. 3 with Army West Point serving as host.
