BOSTON – Beginning a five-game swing that features four road contests, the Boston University women's basketball team braves the elements to visit Colgate on Saturday (Jan. 29). Opening tip is slated for 2 p.m.

At 7-1 against Patriot League foes, BU is tied with Holy Cross for the top spot in the standings approaching the midpoint of league play. The Terriers have won seven of their last eight games, and look for their third PL road victory in four contests.

On the other bench, Colgate aims to win its second game in a span of three games. Despite their 1-8 record ranking at the bottom of the standings, the Raiders have had five of their last six games decided by five points or less.

Colgate's spectator policy for this game requires guests 12 and older to present photo identification and proof of vaccination. For more information, scroll down to the end of this article.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • After sustaining its first league loss, BU bounced back with a 67-57 triumph over Lafayette last Wednesday (Jan. 26) at Case Gym.
  • The Leopards had a lead heading into the fourth quarter, but the Terriers outscored the visitors 29-11 in the final frame to seal their sixth consecutive home win.
  • Junior Sydney Johnson totaled 24 points for the second consecutive game, nailing four three-pointers. Classmate Maren Durant posted 11 rebounds, a career-high tying five assists, and three blocks.
  • Freshman Alex Giannaros fueled the comeback by scoring 11 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter. Senior Chiara Tibbitt added a season-best 11 points.
  • During Patriot League play, the Terriers lead the PL in scoring average (69.0), scoring margin (+11.9), field goal percentage (.425), defensive boards per game (29.6), rebounding margin (+7.1), and blocks per game (5.0).
  • Individually, Johnson is third in the PL with 17.8 points, two steals, and 35.9 minutes per game, and is fourth with a .444 field goal percentage.
  • Giannaros leads the PL with 2.5 three-pointers/game on 44.1 percent shooting, and ranks second with a .464 field goal percentage. She is fourth at 15 points per game.

  • All 11 of the Terriers' wins have come when the team scores at least 60 points, and when tying or winning the rebounding battle.
  • Durant is three blocks away from tying Adrienne Norris for seventh place on BU's all-time blocks list, entering Saturday with 104 career swats.
  • Junior Liz Shean leads all Terrier guards with .493/.500/.850 shooting splits. Her 50 percent three-point performance would be the second-best single-season effort in program history.
  • BU has utilized eight different starting lineups this year, winning at least one game with seven of them.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
  • Colgate is 3-17 on the season, and sits in 10th in the Patriot League with a 1-8 league record.

  • During PL play, Colgate leads the league with a .331 three-point percentage and .761 free throw percentage.
  • However, the Raiders have the lowest scoring average for a PL team this season at 52.8 points per game, and allow the third-most points each contest.
  • Taylor Langan is the only Raider averaging double figures at 10.3 points per game, but Colgate has six players scoring 7.8 points or more per matchup.
