Liljegren Named Patriot League Runner of the Week
October 4, 2022 | Women's Cross Country
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Daisy Liljegren of Boston University women's cross country was named the Patriot League Female Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Liljegren made her sophomore debut at the Paul Short Run in the Women's College Gold 6K race. She led the first 4K of the race on her way to an 11th-place finish with a time of 19:49.7, just five seconds off the previous course record.
Not only did her sub-20' time lead the Terriers, but it also counted for a new personal best. She shed 2:28.9 off her previous personal best time of 22:18.6 which was set at the 2021 Paul Short Run.
The first Patriot League runner to cross the finish line, Liljegren helped the Terriers to a 16-of-46 finish in the race. BU finished ahead of four conference rivals in the event.
The Terriers will have an off weekend before heading to the Virginia XC Invite and the Suffolk Invitational on Oct. 15.
