Mitchell Paces Terriers on Day Two of Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - Junior Lara Mitchell paced the Boston University women's swimming & diving team on day two of the Terrier Invitational on Saturday, placing third in the 100-yard backstroke at FitRec Competition Pool.
Mitchell turned in a personal-best 54.69 in the 100 backstroke en route to the top-three finish and 20 points toward the team score. The Terriers will enter the final day of the Terrier Invitational with 633 points, good for fourth in the six-team field.
Freshman Haley Newman continued her strong weekend, placing fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (55.32) and posting the second-best preliminary time in the 400-yard IM (4:21.88). Both efforts were personal bests.
Another fifth-place finish came in the 100-yard breaststroke, where junior Clarissa Hoyt had her best time ever in the prelims and then topped her mark again in the finals at 1:04.96. Classmate Ava Berzanski placed 10th in the race (1:06.42).
Freshman Stella Langenbach had her best-ever time in the 200-yard freestyle, coming in at 1:52.72 to place sixth.
Sophomore Ella Erickson earned a seventh-place finish in the 400 IM (4:27.96) and classmate Sasha Ramey placed ninth in the 100 butterfly (56.12).
The 800-yard freestyle relay of Langenbach, Ramey, sophomore Ashley Scafetta and Newman placed third in a time of 7:36.80 while the 200-yard medley relay of Mitchell, Hoyt, Newman and junior Sydney Sorbello earned a fifth-place finish (1:43.49).
The third and final day of the Terrier Invitational will take place on Sunday (Nov. 20) with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals beginning at 5 p.m.
