Mattivi Named Best Defender at IIHF World Championship

KATOWICE, Poland - Junior Nadia Mattivi of the Boston University women's ice hockey team helped lead the Italian National Team to a bronze medal the IIHF World Championship for Division I, Group B.

Not only did Mattivi win a medal with her squad, but she was also selected as Best Defender after an outstanding performance in Poland. In five games, Mattivi totaled two goals and one assist for three points. Italy defeated South Korea, 2-1, in the final day of the tournament to claim the bronze. The Italians also defeated Kazakhstan, 1-0, en route to finishing third in the group.

Mattivi is no stranger to the international stage, as she most recently represented Italy in Olympic pre-qualification this past November. The Baselga Di Pinè, Trento, native helped her country reach the final round of qualification.

This past season with the Terriers, Mattivi tallied three goals and a career-high nine assists for 12 points and was part of a defense that held opponents to just 2.5 goals per game. She has totaled 28 points (8g, 20a) during her impressive Terrier career.
