BOSTON – The No. 4 Boston University women's lightweight rowing team concluded the home schedule Saturday on the Charles River by securing its fifth consecutive Beanpot and Muri Cup against No. 2 Harvard-Radcliffe and No. 7 MIT on senior day.
"Challenging conditions all around," said head coach
Malcolm Doldron. "Very rough waters in the first 1,000 meters, so much so, that we shortened the double event to 1,000 meters only. But, that being said, our crews were able to handle the conditions really well, stay relaxed, stay poised and come up with a win.
"Today really belongs though to our 10 seniors," he added. "They came in four years ago with so much energy and so much fire and they've continued to bring that every day. We always talk about what kind of legacy will you leave, and I truly believe that these 10 seniors left this team better than they found it. And it's been challenging for them. They've only really experienced this full season once before as freshman. With two years of adversity to come back and put on a performance like this says a lot about them. I'm super proud of them and we've got a few more weeks with them. We are looking forward to getting the most out of them and seeing Harvard and MIT again at the IRA Championship in June."
