Lightweight Rowing Adds Rickman to Coaching Staff

BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program has hired Maecy Rickman (CAS'24) as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season, head coach Mary Foster announced Friday.
"I am thrilled to have Maecy return to BU and join our staff," said Foster. "Her commitment to developing student athletes and her understanding of what it takes to be a successful student athlete at BU makes her an outstanding fit for our team."
Rickman returns to BU after spending the past year as an assistant coach for the Stanford lightweight rowing program. She helped coach the Cardinal to a fourth-place team finish at the IRA National Championships, highlighted by a bronze medal in the Varsity Eight. Stanford's team finish at the regatta was its best since 2024.
Prior to Stanford, Rickman was an assistant coach at Skidmore College for the 2024-25 season. She coached the program to a top-three finish in the Liberty League and a program-best finish of eighth in the Varsity Eight at the National Invitational Rowing Championships. In 2025, she also coaches with Ready Set Row in Marietta, Ohio.
While at BU, Rickman was named a CRCA All-American in 2024 and helped the Terriers finish fourth in the Lightweight Eight at the IRA National Championship that year. She also won gold for her efforts in the Lightweight Eight at the Knecht Cup that season as well as silver in the Varsity 8 boat. Rickman saw the podium in 2022 at the IRA National Championship, winning bronze with the Varsity Four. She even helped the Terriers win the Evelyn Bergman trophy at the Dad Vail Regatta in 2023.
