Results

BOSTON - The Boston University women's rowing team continued its strong start to the season on Saturday on the Charles River, winning four races against Northeastern and Rhode Island on Senior Day.

The day started with a strong performance in the varsity eight, which was coxed by senior Mia Ball and stroked by junior Kat Robbins. The boat finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 7:26.6, ahead of Northeastern's 7:32.7 and URI's 7:55.2 to reclaim the Council Cup after the Huskies won it last spring.

Sophomore coxswain Trisha Jaggi and junior stroke seat Tiare Hicks helped the Terriers to their second win of the day in the second varsity eight with a time of 7:36.8, 24 seconds faster than second-place Northeastern. URI placed third with a time of 8:18.5.

Because of heavy winds, the remaining races were shortened to a 1,500-meter course. BU's varsity four led by freshman coxswain Audrey Lucerne and freshman stroke seat Hannah Look finished with a winning time of 6:48.1 ahead of the Huskies' 7:09.3 and the Rams' 7:20.4.

The second varsity four, stroked by senior Lily Kelly and coxed by sophomore Heidi Cook earned BU its last win of the day with a time of 7:09.5. URI placed second (7:18.7) and Northeastern placed third (7:31.8).

The Terriers also finished second place in the third varsity eight event with a time of 7:04.4, behind Northeastern (6:52.5).

The team next travels to North Carolina for the Lake Wheeler Invitational on April 22-23.
