Women's Rowing Closes Out Lake Wheeler Invite with Two More Top-Three Results

LAKE WHEELER, N.C. – Highlighted by a pair of victories over defending Patriot League champion Navy in the third round of racing, the Boston University women's rowing team finished seventh overall out of 16 crews at the Lake Wheeler Invite Saturday afternoon.
The two-day regatta consisted of three rounds of racing in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four event with the first two rounds taking place Friday and the third taking place on Saturday.
BU earned a pair of third-place results in Saturday's eight boat races to end the competition at 37 points with UCF (36), Oklahoma (35), the Midshipmen (25) and Kansas (17) rounding out the top 11. Bucknell, Georgetown and North Carolina tied for 12th at five points with Temple (3) and Boston College (2) taking 15th and 16th, respectively. No. 15 nationally-ranked Syracuse (83) edged No. 11 Duke (82) and No. 9 Penn (80) for the team title with Louisville (68), Clemson (60) and Miami (40) grabbing the next three slots.
After posting a faster time than Georgetown (2x), Kansas (2x) and North Carolina on Friday, the varsity eight boat coxed by Mia Ball and stroked by Kat Robbins took third in its final race at 6:46.08 to place ahead of Navy (6:49.93), Temple (6:53.12) and Boston College (6:54.02). Penn won the heat at 6:30.80 with Duke placing second at 6:36.57.
Coxswain Trisha Jaggi and stroke seat Tiare Hicks led the second varsity eight boat to a third-place result as well behind Penn and Duke at 6:54.76 to finish ahead of Temple, Navy and BC.
The varsity four coxed by Audrey Lucerne and stroked by Hannah Look took fourth at 7:49.89 behind Penn, Duke and Navy with BC overtaking Temple.
The Terriers will next compete in the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 1, in Worcester, Massachusetts.
