BOSTON - Highlighted by 16 home contests and a visit to Las Vegas, the Boston University women's ice hockey team and head coach
Brian Durocher have announced the program's 2022-23 schedule.
Â
The season opener will take place on Friday, Oct. 7, when the Terriers host Rensselaer. BU will welcome Union to Walter Brown Arena the following day.
Â
After the pair of non-conference home games on opening weekend, the Terriers will embark on a run of 12 straight Hockey East contests, beginning with a home-and-home against New Hampshire on Oct. 14-15.
Â
The Terriers have been invited to participate in a Las Vegas Thanksgiving tournament on Nov. 25-26 with Minnesota, Penn State and Yale. BU will meet Yale in the first round before taking on either the Golden Gophers or Nittany Lions. The tournament will take place at Dollar Loan Center in Henderson.
Â
"We're all excited about the upcoming 2022-23 season," said Durocher. "It's highlighted by a trip to Las Vegas, where we'll be joined by Minnesota, Penn State and Yale at an exciting venue. That area has certainly captured the attention of the hockey world and it should be a great trip for our program.
Â
"Back in Hockey East, we'll continue the full schedule with three games against each of the nine opponents. Without a doubt, the league will be strong and competitive from top to bottom."
Â
After returning from Vegas, the Terriers will close out the first half with three straight home contests as Maine will visit for a two-game series on Dec. 2-3 before a date with Holy Cross on Dec. 9.
Â
The 44th annual Women's Beanpot will take place on Feb. 7 & 14 at defending champion Harvard. BU will kick off the tournament against Northeastern before facing either Boston College or the Crimson on the second Tuesday.
Â
Archrival Boston College will make two visits to Walter Brown Arena, starting with the back end of a home-and-home on Oct. 22. The Terriers will also host the Eagles on Feb. 11 in between the Beanpot.
Â
The Hockey East tournament starts on Feb. 22 and will again include all 10 teams.
Â
Fans will get their first look at the 2022-23 Terriers on Sept. 23 when they host Université de Moncton for an exhibition contest.
