September 2, 2022 | Men's Cross Country
BOSTON – The Boston University men's cross country team opened its 2022 season with a third-place finish at the Suffolk Short Course Classic on Friday.
BU held a strong start throughout the race and ultimately finished with 72 points. Brown placed second with 56 points and Northeastern won the event with 15 points.
"I thought today was a great way to kick off the season for both squads," said associate head cross country coach Jordan Carpenter. "It was great to see some of our young talent shine as both squads were led by first-years in their first opportunity to sport Boston across their chests. We are excited about what this group will do moving forward this season and beyond. Next, the full group will compete back here at Franklin Park in three weeks where we will get to test ourselves against some of the top teams in the northeast and the NCAA."
Freshman Charlie Tuttle led the Terriers in the 5K with a time of 15:45.4 to notch a sixth-place finish. Fellow freshman Glenn Bell came in 11th with a time of 16:00.6, shortly followed by junior Spencer Twyman in 14th with a time of 16:09.1.
Next in for BU was sophomore Drew Fenton who finished 24th (16:32.8). Senior Kathan Shenoy crossed the line moments later in 28th (16:37.1) followed by junior Nate Somers in 36th (16:53.6). Junior Will Loggia rounded out the top seven runners for BU with a 67th-place finish (17:40.7) to close out the day for the Terriers.
BU will continue the season at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday, Sept. 23 at Franklin Park.
