BOSTON – Boston University women's tennis competed at the Bulldog Invitational and the Hall of Fame Doubles Tournament over the weekend. Highlighting the weekend were sophomore Michelle Kleynerman and doubles pair of grad student Shelly Yaloz and junior Kaitlin Tan who topped their Big Ten opponents from Rutgers.
 
Kleynerman, who went 2-1 in singles on the weekend, first topped Brown's Phoebe Peus in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (6). She then faced Rutgers' Arina Valitova and quickly won the first set 6-2. The second set was more competitive, but Kleynerman prevailed in a 7-5 decision to close the weekend on a win. 
 
In doubles, Yaloz and Tan played a tight match against Arina Valitova and Minchae Kim from Rutgers. The match went to a tiebreak in which BU held Rutgers to four points to earn the 7-6 (4) victory. Yaloz and Tan also defeated their Brown opponents earlier in the weekend in a dominant 6-1 decision.
 
With two wins of her own on the weekend, freshman Navya Vadlamudi took down her regional foes from Yale and Brown. She topped Vivian Cheng of Yale 7-6, 6-2 before facing Brown's Lindsey Hofflander in a closely contested match. After dropping the first set 6-4, Vadlamudi came back to win the second 7-6 (5) to force a super tiebreak which she won 1-0 (11).
 
At the Hall of Fame Tournament, doubles pair of senior Steph Nguyen and freshman Emily Zhao recorded a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win against Paulina Loredo and Nadia Rajan of Rhode Island. Sophomore duo of Nina Gulbransen and Sydney Sharma also recorded a win over Dartmouth's Ashley Hess and Valentina Cruz 6-3, 6-1.
 
The Terriers will be back in action at the ITA Regionals hosted at Dartmouth from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
