Terriers Top UMass, 153-145, Behind Three Pool Records

AMHERST, Mass. - Highlighted by three pool records, the Boston University women's swimming & diving team posted a 153-145 win at Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.
Freshman Han Hoang set the pool record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.16 seconds while senior Lara Mitchell swam the fastest 100-yard backstroke in pool history at 56.23 seconds.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Stella Langenbach, senior Madison Kim, senior Sydney Sorbello and Hoang also set a pool record with a time of 3:27.84.
Junior Sophia Souza swept the diving events, posting a 287.70 in the 3-meter competition before adding a 253.80 in the 1-meter.
Hoang added a second win on the day with a time of 51.76 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle while fellow rookie Izzy Valantiejus placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:39.81).
Langenbach collected an individual win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.52) and classmate Haley Newman swam a 2:08.36 to place first in the 200-yard individual medley.
The Terriers will take next week off before returning to action at the Terrier Invite on Nov. 17-19.
