Three School Records Highlight Day One of Terrier Invite

BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming & diving team kicked off the 17th annual Terrier Invite by breaking three school records on Friday at the FitRec Competition Pool.
In the prelims, freshman Han Hoang took over sole possession of the 50-yard freestyle record with a time of 22.63 to break the shared mark of 22.97 she held with Sezin Eligul.
In the evening session, Hoang was a member of two record relays as she teamed up with seniors Lara Mitchell, Madison Kim and Sydney Sorbello to break the school mark in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.44 before closing the night with a record time of 3:42.73 in the 400-yard medley relay with Mitchell, Kim and senior Clarissa Hoyt.
Hoang won the 50 free finals in a time of 22.65 and two Terriers had individual runner-up finishes as freshman Izzy Valentiejus finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.83) and senior Sumi Cameron was second in the 1-meter dive with 253.9 points.
Other top performances came from senior Anastasia Belyakov (4th, 500 free, 5:05.82) and sophomore Haley Newman (4th, 200 IM, 2:05.12).
After day one, Northeastern is in first place with 501 points while the Terriers stand in second with 479. Massachusetts in third with 391 and Fairfield is fourth with 262.5. Bryant, which only has divers competing, has 30 points.
Prelims on Saturday will begin at 10 a.m.
