ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Boston University women's tennis (14-4, 3-0 PL) extended its win streak to four with a 7-0 sweep over Navy (18-5, 4-1 PL) Saturday afternoon. The Terriers won the doubles point and earned five straight-sets wins in singles.
Junior Victoria Carlsten and freshman Emily Zhao finished first in the No. 3 doubles spot with an efficient 6-1 win. Next to find themselves in the win column were sophomore Michelle Kleynerman and grad student Shelly Yaloz who clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory in the No. 2 spot.
In singles, Tan brought her momentum from doubles into her match and blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Navya Vadlamudi also played an efficient match in the No. 5 spot, picking up a 6-2, 6-1 win and putting the Terriers ahead 3-0. At the No. 2 spot, Kleynerman gave up only one game in her 6-1, 6-0 victory to clinch the match for BU.
The remaining courts played out with all three favoring BU. Zhao won 7-5, 6-1 at the bottom of the lineup while Carlsten battled back from a second set loss to win 6-1, 4-6, 6-0. At the top of the lineup, Yaloz fought through a competitive super tiebreak before emerging with the 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13) win and complete BU's sweep over Navy.
The Terriers will play again on Sunday (April 16) when they face Lehigh at Navy's courts. First serve against the Mountain Hawks is set for 10 a.m.
