
Terriers Prepped for NCAA East Preliminary Meet

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five Terriers from the Boston University track & field teams will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet beginning Wednesday (May 24) at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.
The five Terriers will compete in a combined six individual events. Three of those Terriers will make their second consecutive appearance at the regional meet while the other two will make their NCAA debut. The men's events will take place Wednesday and Friday while the women's events will compete on Thursday and Saturday.
Senior Foster Malleck will start the Terriers' slate with the first round of the 1,500m on Wednesday. He ranks 18th in the field with a time of 3:40.10 which he ran at the Wake Forest Invitational. In the 2022 first round, he placed eighth in his heat.
Thursday's competition will see two Terriers take the track in senior Noelani Phillips and sophomore Daisy Liljegren. Phillips will make her NCAA debut in the 400m dash as she qualified with a time of 53.82 from the Michael Johnson Classic at Baylor.
Liljegren will return to the 10,000m field Thursday with a qualifying time of 33:15.94 which she ran at the Raleigh Relays. She enters the meet ranked 12th in the field. In 2022, she advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the event.
On Friday, grad student Kasim Cisse will make his NCAA return in the high jump. He ranks 40th in the field with a mark of 2.08m which he cleared at the NEICAAA Championships two weeks ago. As a senior in 2022, he placed 33rd at the NCAA regional meet.
Freshman Vera Sjöberg will also make her NCAA debut in the 5,000m on Saturday. She heads into the event ranked 24th thanks to a 15:59.72 that she ran at the Wake Forest Invitational. Sjöberg will be joined in the event by Liljegren who also qualified with a time of 16:12.85, good for the 39th ranked mark.
