June 27, 2023

Returning for a 15th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday this summer as we count down this year's Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com

Kicking off this year's countdown at No. 12 is swimming & diving, highlighted by a sweep of the women's diving events and freshman Haley Newman's two individual titles at the Patriot League Championships.

Junior Sumi Cameron became the first BU diver in six years to win an individual Patriot League title when she took first in the 1-meter event before sophomore Sophia Souza took the 3-meter title two days later. Souza also placed third in the 1-meter.

Newman won the 400-yard individual medley and 200-yard butterfly titles with NCAA B times in both events and she broke the school record in the 200 fly. Junior Lara Mitchell had a pair of top-three finishes in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke and broke her own school record in the 200-yard backstroke.

Cameron was named Diver of the Meet and was joined on the All-Patriot League First Team by Newman and Souza while Mitchell earned second-team honors. Brad Snodgrass was named the Patriot League Women's Diving Coach of the Year for his efforts.

On the men's side, senior Kyle Falkstrom broke the school records in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and went on to earn All-PL Second Team honors. He also was part of a new school record in the 200-yard medley relay along with classmates Jacob Lindner and Ethan Thomas and junior Justin Lee
