DELMAR, N.Y. - Paced by individual champion Christy Chen, the Boston University women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule on Sunday by finishing runner-up at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational at Normanside Country Club.
The Terriers posted the top score of the second round with a 296 to move up three spots on the leaderboard but finished just one stroke behind Seton Hall for the team title.
Chen tied with Seton Hall's Marta Aguilar at plus-5 for the tournament but Chen was declared the individual champion on a tiebreaker thanks to her birdie on hole 18 on Sunday. She birdied four of her final 10 holes and posted a 145 (71-74) on the weekend.
Sophomore Amy Han rebounded from her round of 80 on Saturday to shoot a 1-over 71 on Sunday and move up 34 spots to finish tied for eighth at plus-11.
After a tough start on Sunday, sophomore Madison Takai parred 10 of her final 11 holes to post a 77 and move up to a tie for 11th at plus-12. Her sister, senior Victoria Takai, also finished strong, playing the final 11 holes at even par to post a 74 and make a big jump 21 places to a tie for 26th at plus-15.
Junior Annika Manjunath finished tied for 55th at plus-26.
At one point on Sunday, the Terriers slipped to 10th on the leaderboard, but the five golfers combined to go 3-under on the back nine to make a huge move and ultimately come up only one shot away from the lead.
BU finished in the top three in three of their four fall tournaments and will return to action in February at the Columbia Classic.
