GAME NOTES
Sophomore Luisa Welcke scored her seventh goal of the season for the Terriers, who move to 12-15-3 on the year and 10-12-1 in Hockey East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maine held a 16-7 shot advantage in the opening period and was able to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
- A center-point attempt from Elise Morphy was redirected in by Brian Holm to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at 12:29 of the first.
- Abby Latorella pushed Maine's lead to 2-0 when she maneuvered through the slot to create space and find the back of the net with 5:52 left in the second.
- The Terriers got on the board just over three minutes later when Welcke found herself all alone in the slot off a deflection and had her attempt saved before sending home the rebound at the left slot.
- Midway through the third, a right-side shot by Kennedy Little found its way to BU netminder Callie Shanahan, who turned it away before Raegan Wurm collected the loose puck and elevated it in by the left post.
- BU held a commanding 14-5 shot advantage in the final period but was unable to cut into the 3-1 deficit.
- Shanahan was pulled for 3:42 down the stretch and the Terriers were able to keep the puck in Maine zone for the vast majority of that time but the Black Bears held on for the win.
GAME NOTES
- Maine held a slim 31-30 shot advantage.
- Julia Bachetti made 29 stops in goal for Maine while Shanahan recorded 28 saves for BU.
- Senior Andi Calderone had a game-high three blocked shots.
- The Terriers played without co-captain Nadia Mattivi, who was training with her Team Italy teammates.
- The Terriers will return to action on Friday (Feb. 16) when they visit Vermont.
- Game time at Gutterson Fieldhouse is set for 2 p.m.
