Bears Top Terriers To Retain Michalson Cup In Spring Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Boston University men's rowing program launched the spring portion of its 2023-24 schedule on Saturday (Mar. 23), visiting Brown for a dual race on the Seekonk River.
The day started with the Second Varsity 8, where the Bears came out on top in a time of 5:37.31, just under 11 seconds ahead of the Terrier crew.
A battle for the Michalson Cup with the Varsity 8 followed, where Brown retained the trophy for the fourth-consecutive race after crossing the finish line in 5:29.01. BU's crew posted a time of 5:40.84.
The closest battle of the day occurred in the Third Varsity 8, where the Bears were victorious in 5:40.38 compared to BU's 5:45.93.
The Terriers' Fourth Varsity 8 picked up a win over Brown's 5V, finishing in 5:45.88 compared to the 5V's 5:52.66. The Bears' 4V placed first in the race in 5:38.66.
BU returns to training before its next race on Saturday (Apr. 6), taking on crosstown rival Northeastern along the Charles River with the Arlett Cup at stake.
