Women’s Rowing To Clash With Northeastern, URI For Council Cup
April 12, 2024 | Women's Rowing
BOSTON – Wrapping up its racing on the Charles River for the spring, the Boston University women's rowing program takes Northeastern and Rhode Island on Saturday (April 13), with the former matchup occurring with the Council Cup up for grabs.
Saturday's race airs on ESPN+, beginning at approximately 7:15 a.m. Assistant Coach Ciara O'Sullivan and Hannah Ondak will have the call.
The Terriers and Huskies square off for the second-straight Saturday. Last week, BU also faced Harvard and Dartmouth in Boston, with the Second Varsity 8's second-place finish highlighting BU's performance.
Northeastern placed 18th at the 2023 NCAA Championships after capturing its ninth-consecutive CAA title. A week ago, the Huskies were second in the Varsity 8, Varsity 4, and Third Varsity 8, while placing third in the 2V8.
The Council Cup race takes place for the fourth-consecutive spring. BU has won three of the last four Varsity 8 races, and is 11-9 against the Huskies since 2000.
Rhode Island has participated in the Doc Hosea Invitational and Overpeck Invitational this spring. In the latter regatta, the Rams went unbeaten in the 2V8, V4, and 2V4, while the V8 was second in the afternoon session behind Patriot League foe Navy. Last season, URI was second at the A-10 Championship, with four Rams garnering All-Conference recognition.
Following Saturday's action, BU is idle until Friday (April 26), when it heads to the Lake Wheeler Invite for two days in North Carolina.
