May 23, 2024

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2024 Patriot League champion Boston University women's rowing program landed two Terriers on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced on Thursday morning.

Senior Anna Dechantsreiter was selected as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the first in the program's history since joining the conference in 2013. Classmate Lulu November earned her first-career Academic All-Patriot League nomination as well.

BU was one of three schools, Navy and Bucknell being the others, to land multiple student-athletes on the Academic All-Patriot League Team.

Dechantsreiter earns her second-consecutive spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, becoming the first Terrier to accomplish that feat since Josephine in 2021 and 2022.

Hailing from Boston, Dechantsreiter sported a 3.96 grade-point average during her academic career, recently graduating from BU on Sunday (May 19) with a degree in Philosophy and Neuroscience. In addition to being a team captain, she has also held leadership positions with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Athlete Ally chapters in the athletic department. In the fall, she was a Boston University Scarlet Key Award recipient.

On the water, Dechantsreiter occupied the four seat in BU's Varsity 8+, which won the Grand Final at the Patriot League Championship last Friday (May 17) in a time of 6:42.028. The Terrier crew was then chosen as the league's Boat of the Year. In 2022 and 2023, she was in the Second Varsity 8+ boat that captured gold in the Grand Finals at the Patriot League Championship as well.

Next fall, Dechantsreiter will attend Harvard Medical School to pursue her Master of Sciences in Bioethics.

November, in her second season with the Terriers, graduated last Sunday (May 19) with a degree in Education and Human Development, specializing in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Earning a 3.94 GPA, her career aspirations involve studying for an elementary education teaching licensure and homestay program in Spain next year, later participating in Teach for America in the Boston region as an elementary school teacher.

Walking onto the team in her junior year, November sat in the two seat of BU's Varsity 4+ at the Patriot League Championship, finishing the Grand Final in 7:45.819 en route to the Terriers' third Patriot League title.

BU will head to the NCAA Championships on East Fork/Harsha Lake next week, beginning racing on Friday (May 31) and competing until Sunday (June 2).
