Terriers Repeat as Patriot League Women's Presidents' Cup Champions, Finish Second in Overall & Men's Standings
May 29, 2024 | General
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University successfully defended its Patriot League Women's Presidents' Cup title and finished second in both the overall and men's standings, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The women's title was BU's seventh since joining the league and the second-place finish in the men's competition was the highest ever for the Terriers.
BU finished second in the overall standings with 146 points, paced by a league-best 84.75 points in the women's competition. In the men's standings, BU finished second with 61.25 points.
The Terriers claimed conference titles in men's soccer, men's tennis, softball and women's rowing and had runner-up finishes in six Patriot League Championships (women's cross country, women's indoor track & field, women's basketball, women's golf, women's tennis, men's lacrosse).
Navy claimed the overall title for the 10th straight year and came out on top in the men's standings. The Patriot League Presidents' Cup goes to the member institution with the highest cumulative sports point total for their Patriot League standings in sponsored men's and women's sports. Points are awarded based on a combination of an institution's regular-season and tournament finishes in each sport.
If there is no regular-season competition and the champion is determined by a Patriot League Championship, points are awarded based on the final championship standings. If all teams compete in the Patriot League Championship and there is a regular-season competition, points are awarded based on an average of final regular-season standings and tournament finish. If all teams do not participate in the Patriot League Championship and there is a regular-season competition, points are awarded based on an average of final season standings and tournament finish. For those teams not participating in the Championship, the final regular-season standings are utilized.
