Dartmouth Tops Men's Basketball, 77-64

HANOVER, N.H. – Competing in its last non-conference road game, the Boston University men's basketball team dropped a 77-64 decision at Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.
The Big Green (4-5) extended their home win streak to three games by posting a 12-8 advantage in made 3-pointers and outscoring the Terriers (4-8) from the free throw line, 19-10. Dartmouth ended the contest shooting 43.4 percent from the field and holding BU to 37.1 percent.
McNair tallied a team-high 14 points, while both freshman Chance Gladden and sophomore Ben Defty earned 12 points. Defty added seven rebounds alongside three assists, and graduate student Ethan Okwuosa earned a season-high 10 rebounds.
Kareem Thomas went a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc on his way to a game-high 22 points. Jayden Williams shot 4-for-8 in 3-point territory and finished with 18 points alongside seven rebounds, while Brandon Mitchell-Day ended the contest one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- McNair opened the scoring with a 3-pointer at 17:33, but the Terriers would never lead again, as Dartmouth responded with three consecutive layups over the next 90 seconds.
- After senior Ben Roy tied the game on a 3-pointer, Mitchell-Day answered with his first trey to spark a 10-0 run capped by Niko Abusara's layup at 13:02.
- Sophomore Azmar Abdullah and Gladden both scored from behind the arc during BU's 10-0 run finished by Defty's layup at 10:10.
- Thomas completed a 3-point play on the next possession, but McNair converted on his own steal with a 3-pointer to tie the game for the final time, 19-19, with 8:50 left in the half.
- Ben Brown broke the deadlock on a 3-pointer to help Dartmouth score 20 of the game's next 30 pointers to pull ahead, 39-29, at 2:10.
- Facing a 43-32 halftime deficit, BU pulled within nine (53-44) with 14:13 remaining on Gladden's layup and bonus free throw.
- The Big Green though went on another 10-0 run over the following three minutes to pull away for the victory.
- McNair extended his streak of hitting at least three 3-pointers to seven games and 10th overall on the season.
- Okwuosa became the third Terrier to haul in double-digit rebounds this season alongside Defty and graduate student Malcolm Chimezie.
- The home team has now won each of the last four meetings between BU and Dartmouth.
- After finishing up the semester in the classroom with finals, BU will wrap up non-conference play by hosting UMass Lowell next Sunday (Dec. 21) at 12 p.m.
- The teams are tied, 6-6, with the River Hawks riding a three-game win streak following last year's 83-71 home win.
- BU is 4-2 all-time at home after dropping a 71-63 decision in 2023.
