BOSTON — Junior Freddy Collins ran the second-fastest men's 5000m time in school history at day one of the Valentine Invitational on Friday at the Track & Tennis Center.

TOP 10 TERRIERS

Collins was under a second away from a school record as he posted a 13:53.21 time. He finished 16th in a crowded field of distance runners.

TOP PERFORMERS

Junior Parker Schneider got under four minutes in the mile, finishing in 3:58.87.
In the shot put, senior Cole Tucker earned second with a distance of 16.13 meters. Freshman Luke Riordan came in fourth with a 15.58m mark and senior Owen Faulha finished in eighth (14.07m) in his shot put debut.
Senior Leon Christian finished seventh in the 60m dash finals with a 7.02 mark and took seventh in the 200m ith a 21.62 time.
Junior Michael Onilogbo took third in the 200m, crossing the line at 21.26 seconds.

OTHERWORLDLY

Nike runner Grant Fisher was the main event for spectators at the TTC, drawing a near-capacity crowd for his attempt to break the indoor world record in the 5000 meters.
He not only managed to break it, but he did so by five seconds, crossing the finish line in 12:44.09. That mark is also the fastest by an American indoors or outdoors ever.
Fisher is coming off breaking the indoor 3000m world record at the 2025 Millrose Games at The Armory in New York Saturday, Feb. 8.
