Freda, Poerio Highlight Program-Record 21 Academic Honorees
February 26, 2025 | Field Hockey
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University field hockey team set a program record with 21 student-athletes being named to the 2024 Patriot League Fall Academic Honor Roll.
BU has now placed at least 14 players on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of the past nine seasons. The previous record was 19, set last year.
Graduate student Kate Thomason was on the list for the fifth consecutive year while senior Katie Devine made it for a fourth straight season.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must earn a 3.2 grade point average (GPA) in the academic semester which coincides with their sport.
Freshman Shea Freda and senior Tegan Poerio were also named Scholars of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for having a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher. This was Poerio's second consecutive year with that honor. They joined eight other Terriers on the NFHCA National Academic Squad for having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The Terriers also received the NFHCA National Academic Team Award for having a combined team GPA of at least a 3.5.
